2007 Champions for Charity®
Americana Manhasset hosted its 12th annual holiday shopping benefit, Champions For Charity®, from Thursday, November 29 through Saturday, December 1. All Americana Manhasset stores and participating Wheatley Plaza stores donated 25% of designated pre-tax purchases to the participating charity of the customer's choice.
Bustling with holiday cheer during the three day Champions for Charity® program, Americana Manhasset benefited 83 local and national not-for-profit organizations. Many patrons consider this event the kick-off for the holiday shopping season. The festivities began on Thursday with a complimentary shopper recognition breakfast at the new Americana Manhasset restaurant, Toku Modern Asian. Over 300 guests enjoyed informal modeling by CH Carolina Herrera and a delicious meal to help fortify them for a day of shopping for their favorite cause. During the three days, 23 stores hosted in-store receptions for various participating organizations. Highlights included a jazz trio at Ralph Lauren and a holiday concert from the Portlege School Choir at Tiffany & Co. Newly opened Lulu Couture, the trendy ready-to-wear boutique, rocked the event with a signature black martini.
Americana Manhasset took on a Main Street atmosphere during the three days as charity shoppers walked from store to store greeting friends along the way. "Americana Manhasset and Wheatley Plaza are delighted to take an active role in supporting the not-for profit organizations in our community. Our stores take pride in participating in Champions For Charity®, knowing they are helping to raise funds for many worthwhile causes," states Deirdre Costa Major, President of Americana Manhasset.
