On Wednesday, March 15, 2006 Americana Manhasset was joined by Vanity Fair magazine and internationally acclaimed architect, Peter Marino, to host the opening cocktail party of Distinctly Modern, a mid-century design exhibit at Americana Manhasset, which ran through April 30th.

The tables, benches and storage units supported antique and collectable books provided by John McWhinnie @ Glenn Horowitz Booksellers. The décor featured a giant photo-wall depicting historic photos of Hirshleifers’ five generations of retailers, and Hirshleifers’ fashion advertisements from the past 50 years. A special gallery of vintage clothing spanning a century of style was prominently displayed, featuring the designs of Norman Norell, Rudi Gernreich, Donald Brooks, Ben Zuckerman, and others who’ve left their mark on fashion. Hirshleifers transformed its 3200 square foot Chanel boutique into Senequier, a scenic café at the Place des Lyces in the center of St. Tropez, the site of Chanel’s Cruise 2011 show. Guests enjoyed delicious Croque Monsieurs and Brie en Croute while sitting amongst models as they show off styles from Chanel’s Cruise 2011 collection.
The guests enjoyed music by DJ Kiss, a full bar and wine bar featuring Long Island’s own Sparkling Pointe Vineyard, hors d’oeuvers and catering from Toku Modern Asian, Cipollini and Bar Frites, and to cap off the evening, there was an extraordinary statement cake created by Kate Sullivan of Cake Power. It was a party 100 years in the making – and well worth the wait!

2011 A Day of Peace, Love and Fashion
On Wednesday, March 16, Americana took over Manhattan...all for a good cause!
The clouds cleared, the rain stopped. It was time to shop! Denise Rich threw open the doors to her expansive Fifth Avenue home Wednesday to host the second-annual shopping extravaganza presented by Americana Manhasset benefiting her Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. 25% of proceeds were donated to the charity named for Denise’s late daughter.
"Isn’t this fantastic? Shopping with Denise Rich?” cooed one guest. Indeed, with the hostess with the mostess at the helm and this year’s "A Day of Peace, Love & Fashion” theme on their minds, scores of well-heeled ladies poured over the luxurious offerings from 10 mini boutiques erected in Rich’s living room, dining room and library, including Louis Vuitton, Etro, Prada, Fendi, Tory Burch, Gucci, Dior, Michael Kors, Theyskens’ Theory and Hirshleifer’s, who brought along Jimmy Choo, Chanel and Valentino, to name just a few.
Dori Cooperman, Caroline Berthet, Patricia Shaw, "Project Runway” judge Nina Garcia and Patty Raynes all turned out to rally friends and guests to open their wallets while adding some new resort and spring pieces to their own wardrobes. Yaz Hernandez needed no outside motivation, happily picking up a striped Prada runway boa, Prada LBD and pair of Casadei navy blue satin bow pumps—all the while trying on an Alaïa dress. "Done, done and done!” she happily exclaimed. "Now it’s time to go on holiday!”
