FALL '07 EDITORIAL
Americana In Paris…
Fashion has become a thoroughly global affair. Just ask any designer venturing to Tokyo, Moscow or Manhasset to break ground. However, there is still something about Paris and its singular mode that captures the imagination. Paris is, after all, a city rich with the spirit of past denizens who oozed a love of fashion from every pore—from Marie A Antoinette and her candy-colored coterie to Christian Dior and Coco Chanel who pushed the art form into modernity with their sartorial innovation. And so we chose to make Paris, circa 1940, the magical canvas for our Fall 2007 Book. It’s a celebration of the modern-day Dietrichs, Lombards and Bacalls who smoldered down the season’s runways and of a timeless city whose beauty continues to incite the passions of designers to this day—no matter where they work.
To wit, we asked a few American designers to tell us why the city inspires them. And since this book might rouse you to take a trip, we invited a few French style-setters to open their personal address books and share some favorite places. What to pack so you arrive in style? Just peruse this portfolio for the season’s best looks and come visit us at Americana Manhasset. We and our collection of 60 fabulous stores are here to infuse your wardrobe with a little ooh la la.
