Elie Saab Spring 2017 - Runway Review

Disco fever has hit Elie Saab. Entitled "Standing on Stardust,” the Beirut-born designer’s spring collection filled the Tuileries with a constellation of stars. Be it a cut-out on caped cocktail dresses, on tops paired with gold lamé tuxedos or layered under fringed leather vests worn with generously flared trousers, it was a life lived in the orbit of a mirrored ball.

Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Hailey Baldwin were among the trio of bold-faced names to walk the gold glitter-dusted runway, a literal extension of the many dresses, gowns and separates covered in appliqués.

Among the standout pieces in the fun-filled, Seventies-Eighties vibe collection: black stars embroidered on a sheer, tulle flared mini worn over a bodysuit; silver lone stars on the collar of a blouse worn with a short, pleated mini and a minimalist white star set into the bust of a black jumpsuit.

For evening, Saab brought out the va-va-va-voom. A shiny blue crisscross halter gown with pleated skirt was ravishing, never faltering to cheese. Modern glamour through and through, it was over the top in true fabulous style. Want something more sober? How about a lean black jumpsuit trimmed in sparkling strips of fringe?
