Fendi Spring 2020 - Runway Review

Presenting her first women's ready-to-wear collection as Fendi's new -- and sole -- creative director, Silvia Venturini Fendi is embarking on a new professional chapter, one left by the sudden passing of her former mentor Karl Lagerfeld. Dedicating the show to him, Fendi delved into the "anxiety-free" '70s with all its warmth and opulence -- and the era in which Lagerfeld first began working with the maison.

Proposing fluid silhouettes complement by pastel hues and natural accents, the collection radiated a modern elegance jam packed with covetable pieces. Kaia Gerber in her blossoming dress and Bella Hadid's all-yellow look epitomized the mood of the season, each of them sporting oversized frames in a bevy of suede and floral color ways. Described as "a solar mood," the Italian summer kiss resonated throughout: a floral-print Lycra shirt with collar and cuffs etched in mink; utility-style khaki pants, brown suede wrap dresses and trenches and oodles of opaque organza (not to mention adorable "shower curtain" floral prints).

As for accessories, not a single high heel was to be seen. Wide-weave totes in ribbons of leather were intertwined with yellow-dyed fur while the Baguette sported new fringe detailing that carried a spirited bounce down the runway.

The sun has risen on a new day at Fendi.
