Giorgio Armani Fall 2020 - Runway Review
February 23, 2020

In a last minute change of plans, Giorgio Armani chose to present his Fall 2020 collection behind closed doors -- minus the usual scrum of and press photographers -- all out of an abundance of caution after coronavirus scares shook Milan to its core. Viewed online, the models walked around a reflecting pool populated with flowers with hanging vines. The beautifully romantic collection featured maxi coats in a camo remix, loads of velvet and a nod to military silhouettes. Day jackets were particularly strong -- for fall, there was plenty to love in the form of shrunken shapes and double-breasted with scarf drape detailing. A series of dramatic evening gowns capped off the show, including a stunning asymmetrical caped velvet gown with a flourish of feathers at the shoulder and crystal-covered evening pajamas. The finale featured a tribute to China edited from Privé collections that included a red sequin cheongsam with sculpted shoulders and tassel detail.
