Jason Wu Spring 2017 - Runway Review
September 9, 2016
Having cut his show down to just 250 guests, Jason Wu’s intimate gathering—set against a residential-like venue custom designed to be cozy and inviting—was a nod to Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. "The vibrant colors of his creation 'Seven Magic Mountains' left an indelible mark on me for spring," Wu said post-show, surrounded by magnificent floral creations by Putnam & Putnam.
Refined yet continually playful, Wu’s use of color has long been one of his hallmarks. Here, they were rendered in pops of neon that truly glowed against the conservative, Mad Men-esque decor. Wu knows a dress, and here there was no shortage of chic options: sheer, tulle numbers for cocktails, tailored and polished A-line for the office and, for a night on the red carpet, gorgeous floral appliquéd gowns that scream F-U-N. Pair them with a structured blazer (note the contrast piping) or a pair of metallic trousers and you’re good to go.
