Loro Piana Spring 2020 - Runway Review
September 22, 2019

For Spring 2020, Loro Piana cast a gorgeous palette of colors in a journey from the Mediterranean sunrise to an Atlantic sunset. Shades of desert, light pink, sandy dune, Sahara tea, sweet cocoa, ivory, white and light yellow were punctuated by touches of Rouille rust red and spring honey. Cashmeres, silks and linens featured a textured touch on jacquard cottons while the silhouettes in gentle and fluid cuts, tied at the waist or left flowing, were thoroughly modern: trenchcoats with sleeves gathered and tied at the wrists, uncomplicated field jackets and anoraks and capes trimmed in leather. Deconstructed, buttonless jackets caressed the bust and worn with liquid trousers in a relaxed interpretation of the suit that had a hint of safari.
The summer spirit is effortlessness: easy as a shirtdress, a striped dress, a sleeveless pinafore, a caftan; easy as a summer bouclé cardigan worn with a matching skirt, as a knitted anorak or a loose jumper worn with shorts. Knit dressing is focal, creating feminine shapes that are immediate to wear. Ribbing, which was featured prominently this season, complemented stripes for textures that gave depth to the surfaces. This uncomplicated taste for texture carried on into the accessories: leather sandals and woven babouches; woven satchels; shoulder bags with lock-in closures; Suitcase stripe totes.
