Max Mara Fall 2020 - Runway Review
February 20, 2020

Outerwear is king at Max Mara, and for fall the offerings included a luxurious indulgence of seafaring looks -- from Kaia Gerber's swishy navy cape to Bella Hadid's ruffled shoulder bomber. The collection was largely devoid of color or print save for mariner stripes that came in an assortment of navy, camel, gray and white. Structured shoulders and high-waisted trousers led the way for boardroom dressing, many cinched with a simple rope belt.
The teddy bear coats made a fabulous return -- this time adorned with sailor's cords, worn with oversized duffels with tassel closures -- alongside puffer jackets featuring puffy sleeves and detachable hoods. The aforementioned ruffles added an extra oomph to the silhouettes, their flourishes liberally adorned to jacket sleeves, skirts at the bias or peeking out of double-breasted jackets and puffers.
