Rick Owens Fall 2020 - Runway Review
February 29, 2020

Alien shoulders molded atop leather biker jackets and oversized Kansai Yamamoto pin-striped blazers? Must be a Rick Owens show. Having consistently sought inspiration from rock gods for his runways, the designer this time turned to Gary Numan, godfather of electronica, to inform not only the show soundtrack -- but the clothes themselves. The sleek, street-style savvy collection was at once both wearable yet steeped in calculated design. Sexy, draped and wrapped, the cashmere knits and bodysuits were sinuous with their layered stretchy separates. A Moncler-made quilted puffer duvet featured metal chain clasps while satin gowns were delicately held together via tiny ties. In a nod to sustainability, Owens showed outerwear in the form of bonded, recycled clear plastic raincoats.
