Self-Portrait Spring 2017 - Runway Review
September 10, 2016
Thanks to some serious red-carpet success it has had, the Self-Portrait label has become one of a handful of burgeoning young labels coveted by both Hollywood and fashion insiders. Three short years in and designer Han Chong is on the map with his signature guipure lace tea dresses.
But it’s more than just about lace. For spring that rang loud and clear from the first look: a black, white and pale blue guipure lace dress that featured very small buttons along the hemlines and shoulders. It felt in tune with the label’s girlish offerings from past seasons and juxtaposed the military-inspired jumpsuits also seen on the runway. The more rigid focus on the waist was softened, with many dresses lovingly falling off the shoulders. Complementing them were some serious covetable separates, including a must-have pair of croc-embossed PVC cigarette trousers.
