Victoria Beckham Spring 2017 - Runway Review
September 11, 2016
As Victoria Beckham continues to soften her collection, the unhurried mood of her spring collection resonated emotionally with both designer and audience. Deconstructed is perhaps the best word to describe her separates—a jacket, for example, that cascades off the shoulder and is meant to be worn open and slouchy.
This harried look was not without plenty of premeditation. To wit, midi dresses, pleated leather, washed silks and crushed velvet (hot orange, anyone? peppermint?) all seemed to move away from the body. A navy gown boasted multiple layers of light-as-a-feather chiffon. The swish of the garments as they walked by gave them a real human element. An air of the Nineties was evident in the pajama styles paired with knee-high canvas boots.
The ease continued on in the vintage florals she showcased on draped dresses and even in her once-severe accessories. Bras were also a major moment of this collection, Beckham pairing bralettes with skirts or trousers.
