Zimmermann Spring 2018 - Runway Review
September 11, 2017
Zimmermann is synonymous with beautiful, feminine designs, and spring was no exception. "I wanted it to be light and sunny, which to me, is very Australian," said Nicky Zimmermann. Delving back to her roots, the designer pulled out photographs of her parents's honeymoon on Queensland's Gold Coast and the color palette they informed. Dubbed her very "personal" collection, she succeeded, by all accounts, in re-creating a memory that has always lived inside her.
Capturing the beauty, romanticism and light of the Gold Coast, this all translated into vibrant floral prints on white fabric backgrounds in everything from purple and aqua to citrus and pink combos. Showcased in super short or long flirtatious dresses -- Zimmermann girls do love extremes in their lengths -- and mixed with appliqués and French knots, palette cleanser moments came via several white linen looks like a gauzy button-down shirt with matching belted trousers.
The hippie-chic clothes, for all their sexed-up glamour, were also rendered edgy thanks to ultraviolet floral prints. Paired with board shorts with flared hems, ruffles and slits, it just all worked harmoniously.
