Zimmermann Spring 2020 - Runway Review
September 9, 2019

Regardless of season, Zimmermann's collections have a knack for getting everyone excited for summer. For Spring, Nicky Zimmermann described her inspiration as bubbling up from her days as a student in Sydney, eagerly awaiting the start of holiday break. That carefree and relaxed vibe as exemplified by the 1966 surf documentary "The Endless Summer" had guests eager for the return of beach season.
A little less feminine than Zimmermann has showcased in previous seasons, all the intrinsic elements were nevertheless there: oodles of tiered ruffles, mini hemlines, pouf sleeves and acres of eyelet. The print-heavy collection showcased a new series made from retro surf posters, rendered on maxi skirts, crop tops and a fabulous strapless dress. The thoroughly graphic collection was thought provoking -- less so beach babe bingo and more the sophisticated pinup.
