Having just presented his first collection as creative director of Roberto Cavalli, the future looks bright for this Italian fashion house under the eye of Paul Surridge. An alum of Jil Sander, Calvin Klein and Z Zegna, the Brit designer is keen to maintain the glamour and sensuality of the Cavalli brand while expanding its daywear offerings. With a focus on both leather and knitwear for spring, practicality and comfort also play solid roles in the pieces. The Cavalli brand is undeniably about animal prints, but Surridge opted for a single graphic zebra print complemented by references to Tuscany and earthy hues such as sienna. Also very much present is evening wear, which emphasized the arms for several looks, with the upper part reminiscent of sports bras or yoga tops.
